What Is NSGC/NMA?

NSGC/NMA (Nebraska State Government Chapter of the National Management Association) is an organization of state employees that provides leadership and professional development opportunities. Chartered in 1984, NSGC/NMA also provides the opportunity for members to exchange ideas on state government management and encourages cooperation and interaction among managers at all levels of state government.

Our Vision is "To Achieve The Best Future For State Government." To support the Vision, NSGC/NMA recognizes the need for management and leadership abilities in order to provide quality public services.

What Does NSGC/NMA do?

  1. Conducts regular lunch or breakfast membership meetings with speakers on the second Thursday of each month at various locations in or near the downtown area.
  2. Offers personal and professional development seminars, an one day EXPOsition, held every October, and a certified manager program offered through the Nebraskland Council.
  3. Helps members develop hands-on leadership skills on various committees, as officers or board members, in an environment where information is shared, decisions are made and solutions are implemented.
  4. Allows members the opportunity to participate in community activities such as American Enterprise Speech Contest, Youth Leadership Seminars, and Junior Achievement.

Membership in the chapter is available for permanent state employees who have or aspire to have supervisory or managerial responsibilities or decision-making authority for the agency:

What's In It For Me?

NSGC/NMA is an opportunity for life-long learning in a format for you to practice management and leadership skills. It is an inexpensive and accessible means to nationally recognized professional development courses. By voluntarily participating with other members in the activities of the chapter and through informal communication with each other, you will gain a better appreciation for each other's responsibilities and a greater understanding of overall agency goals.
